TOUR ITINERARY 4
Full day guided coach tour to Monteriggioni, Colle Val d'Elsa and San Gimignano

Meeting outside the Jolly Hotel, La Lizza at 9:30 am, we will first visit the walled village of Monteriggioni, with the possibility of walking along part of its fortifications. Monteriggioni was an important bastion in the defence of the Republic of Siena, and its appearance, surrounded by its fortifications has remained largely as described by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Commedy. We then proceed to San Gimignano visiting this famous town with its unmistakeable skyline of towers. San Gimignano gives a clear idea of a flourishing medieval town along the via Francigena. The visit includes entrance to the beautiful convent, with frescoes from the Siena school, completely covering two walls, that describe episodes from the Old and New Testaments. Following this visit, there will be free time for lunch. Meeting up again in the afternoon, we will have the opportunity to taste the local Vernaccia white wine before travelling to Colle Val d'Elsa to visit the historic town centre.
